Tell the Council what you think of our 5 year plan

DRAFT 5 YEAR PLAN

Every five years, the Alaska Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education is required by the United States Administration on Developmental Disabilities to create a five-year state plan.  Planning helps the Council decide what it would like to get done during the next five years.  Before writing the plan, the Council visited communities across Alaska to find out what people think is important for individuals with disabilities and their families.  The Council also sent out a web survey in December 2010 asking the same questions.  Once the information was collected, the Council met in May 2011 to review all of the information and to decide what priorities and activities they would like to put in the plan for the next five years.

Based on the work of the Governor’s Council members, the draft Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education 2012-2017 State Plan has been developed and is now available for public comment.  The plan describes the goals, activities and priorities that the Council will work on during the years 2012-2017 and may be viewed at our website:  http://health.hss.state.ak.us/gcdse/ or you may request a copy by calling (907) 269-8990 or toll-free in Alaska at (888) 269-8990. 

The draft State Plan will be available for public comment until July 15th, 2011 at 5:00pm.  You may provide public comment using any of the options below:

• You may participate in an online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/alaska5yearplan (preferred method).
• By emailing comments to teresa.holt@alaska.gov.
