2011 Winner of the Outstanding Direct Service Professional of the Year Award for Empowering People with Disabilities

Please join us in congratulating Kanoe Toutaiolepo for winning the 2011 Outstanding Direct Service Professional of the Year Award for her work in empowering people with developmental disabilities. Kahnoe has worked for REACH Inc. in Juneau for the last seven years.

She is described as someone who lifts the spirits of all those around her; brightening a room just by walking into it. Her songs fill the halls of the Assisted Living Home she works in. Clients add they love spending time with her. “She laughs and sings lots. She’s silly. She walks dogs and visits the kitties with me at the Humane Society. We do laps, and race, and I’m faster!”

Kanoe takes her work seriously. She gets to know and appreciates each individual resident for who they are, celebrating and supporting whatever they can do. Doing whatever it takes to ensure each resident understands the joy of success.
