The Laboratory Improvement
Program seeks to provide to the people of Alaska the best possible
laboratory services. The Laboratory Improvement program is involved
in several separate areas in the State Public Health laboratory
system. One such area is improving the delivery of, and knowledge
about, our laboratory’s services. The ultimate goal is to
reduce any impediments when utilizing our laboratory. We review
and assess receipt, throughput, delivery of results and billing
for specimen’s tested. Additionally, we provide training
opportunities to laboratory professionals in Alaska. This requires
periodic needs assessments, identifying resources and working
closely with state and regional, professional and national organizations
to deliver cost effective, widely available training. We must
offer training that can be accessed by a laboratory professional
in a local setting.
We are available to answer questions or concerns regarding our
laboratory’s services, submission of samples, shipping problems,
billing problems, proposed new testing, requesting new testing,
training opportunities or any other laboratory related inquiry.
